The Washington Huskies hired Division II champion coach Brad Jackson to assist Lorenzo Romar on the bench, which could mean Raphael Chillious is on his way to Villanova
Aug 17, 2012 - The Washington Huskies are making a shift in their coaching staff, hiring assistant coach Brad Jackson. It's quite possible they'll be losing another member in the upcoming days in Raphael Chillious.
Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports has the initial report.
Jackson was the head coach of a Western Washington squad that won the Division II National Championship this past season. He had been there for 27 seasons, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him take off and leave for Washington.
Chillious could be a big loss because of his recruiting connections to Nike as well as his ability to go to the Northeast and overseas and find recruits. On the basketball court, Chillious really helped to develop Isaiah Thomas and mold him into the NBA-caliber point guard he is today.
Lorenzo Romar has generally run one of the strongest Pac-12 basketball programs, but this will be one interesting transition to monitor in Seattle.
