Japan's key consumer prices were down 0.3 percent in July from a year earlier, the government said Friday.
The core consumer price index, excluding fresh foods, stood at 99.5 against the 2010 base of 100, according to a report released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
The core CPI for Tokyo's 23 wards in August, which indicates nationwide price moves down the road, fell 0.5 percent to 99.1, reported Xinhua.
