NBA: Short-handed Jazz roll to 131-99 win over Raptors

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Jazz power forward Paul Millsap (24) pulls down a rebound ahead of Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas (17) as the Utah Jazz face the Toronto Raptors Friday December 7, 2012.

NBA ? Utah is missing Al Jefferson, Derrick Favors.

There was no overtime ? not even one ? just a depleted Jazz team, kicking it into overdrive.

Minus Al Jefferson and Derrick Favors, the Jazz (11-10) Friday turned a 3-pointer shootout into a slam-dunk contest and routed the Toronto Raptors 131-99 at EnergySolutions Arena.

The Jazz trailed 27-15 in the first quarter, but wasted no time seizing control of the game, going on a 26-9 run to go up 41-46 and take a 63-52 lead into halftime.

The Jazz rolled from there. They made six of seven 3-point attempts in the third quarter, and finished the game with 13 makes on 56.5 percent shooting from the perimeter.

Paul Millsap led the Jazz with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and eight Jazz players reached double figures, including Gordon Hayward, who scored 17 points off the bench. Enes Kanter, in his first career start, scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Andrea Bargnani led the Raptors with 20 points.

It was a welcome walk in the park for the Jazz, who needed three overtimes to beat the Raptors 140-133 on Nov. 12 at Toronto?s Air Canada Centre.

The Jazz, whose previous largest lead of the year was 23 points, led the Raptors by as many as 34 in the fourth quarter.

The Jazz finished 2-1 during a three-game homestand, with six of their next eight games on the road. The Jazz are 3-9 away from EnergySolutions Arena, and face the always tough ? although struggling ? Lakers at Staples Center on Sunday.
