Amir Khan talks about changes in his training camp ? Boxing News

Former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist Amir Khan spoke about the numerous changes he ?had? to bring in his training camp in order to revive his career. Khan, who lost his WBA title to American unbeaten fighter Danny Garcia on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino this year, is now preparing for his clash against another unbeaten American fighter Carlos Molina.

?He had to and we had to make a lot of change,? said Khan?s Business manager of Khan Promotions Asif Ali regarding Khan?s confidence during the press conference in the LA Sports Arena. ?People know when you have to do the change you?re going to be afraid, because you got to take that first step and go back to basics and learn from what you have done.?

Khan then spoke about his new training coach Virgil Hunter and the strategies he has brought in.

?We know exactly what we have to do.?We?ve?never really had?defense,?if you think about it. I think it?s time to be smart and win fights with?defense,? said Khan, who believes he lost to Danny Garcia due to his poor defence.

However, most analysts believe Khan?s lost to Garcia was not due to his ?weak defence? but his ?weak chin?, something no trainer can improve for Khan.

Khan fired Hall of Famer trainer Freddie Roach after his loss to Garcia, believing Roach was unable to give him enough time to prepare for fights. Khan is scheduled to fight Carlos Molina on December 15.

It should be noted here that Khan is still dreaming of facing American unbeaten fighter Floyd Mayweather, regardless of his knockout loss to Garcia. Khan believes a victory against Molina would bring him closer to a fight against Mayweather.

For now, the Briton fighter is focused on improving his defence. He has already been knocked out twice, first by Breidis Prescott in 2008 and then by Garcia earlier this year. In other words, Khan has finally realised that he is prone to knockouts and therefore he needs to be smart in the ring instead of being ?brave?, at least that is how he puts it.
